Medicine Buddha Retreat - A Taste of Wellbeing, with Paula Chichester - Fri 29th to Sun 31st August 2025
Date: Fri 29th, Sat 30th & Sun 31st August 2025
Times: Starting with a welcome on Friday evening, closing Sunday early afternoon
Format: Residential retreat, onsite
Overview
Medicine Buddha is an ancient, powerful meditation practice that can heal our body, mind and spirit - personally and globally. We’ll begin our weekend with creating a safe, sharing space amongst the group. From there, we explore the Medicine Buddha meditations from Tibet and physical exercises from Chinese Qi Gong that promote balance of five elements in the body and heart/mind. These practices enable us to begin to relax into the natural calm state of well being, help us slow down, be present and open to what is “alive” in each one of us. The meditation includes imagination and mantra recitation as well as resting in nature of mind. And of course, we’ll have time for sharing, asking questions and discussion.
We will use the short meditation manual: The Healing Buddha which can be found on the FPMT website.
About the Teacher
Paula Chichester is known for her friendly, experiential teaching style that evolved from four decades of full-time training in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and meditation as well as diverse psycho-somatic healing arts from Asia and the West. Inspired by her main teachers, Lama Thubten Yeshe and Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche, under their direction, Paula lived approximately 20 years in full-time retreat, most of which were solitary.
Having studied with great masters from all four sects of Tibetan Buddha dharma, her workshops are often commented upon as being a practical bridge between ancient wisdom-practice and modern life. Paula is dedicated to helping create a world culture of healthy bodies and minds, compassion, wisdom and joy.
You can learn more about Paula and many other materials and resources which can support you in your practice via her website: www.braveview.org
