Join us for Conversation with a Buddhist Nun, where we will explore the topic of Buddhism and Western ordained life through the personal life experience of Irene Turner.
Irene was born in Brazil, first met the Dharma in India (Dharamsala) in the mid-seventies, and has been a practicing Buddhist ever since. She lived in the UK throughout the 80s and 90s, bringing up her children, where she made a connection with Lam Rim Wales and was part of the community's early years. She went on to work at Jamyang London, eventually studying at The Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa (Italy) from 2004. She took ordination there in 2005 with Geshe Jampa Gyatso. In 2008 she went to live near Nalanda Monastery in France, where she did a second round of the FPMT Basic Program, followed by the seven years of the Master´s Program, as taught by Geshe Jamphel.
We are excited to welcome Irene back to Lam Rim Wales to discuss her journey. This will be an informal conversation, with the opportunity for attendees to interact and ask their own questions.
