Transforming Your Mind: An Introduction to Buddhist Mind Training (Onsite) - Saturday, Feb 17th 2024
Date: Saturday, Feb 17th 2024
Time: 10am to 4:00pm
Overview
During this day course, we will explore Buddhist Mind Training techniques (lojong) that help us transform emotional pain, anxiety, and stress into mental well-being in ways that benefit us and the people around us. These practices are accessible to anyone seeking inner transformation—whether Buddhist or not.
"This mind training is especially well suited for an active life. It does not require that we withdraw in seclusion, but that we re-examine all of our relationships - to family, friends, enemies, and strangers - and gradually transform our responses to whatever life throws our way. It is a Mahayana practice that aspires to attain full awakening through compassion and loving-kindness for all creatures." - B. Alan Wallace

About the Teacher
David Oromith, co-founder of Samadhi and meditation guide, is a Buddhist contemplative with a background in mental health services. Having practised meditation since the age of 18, his journey into Buddhism began through personal struggles with depression and anxiety, leading him to the Buddha's teachings. David has studied under various teachers, notably Lama B. Alan Wallace, and is influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, among other traditions, recognising the value and benefit of multiple points-of-view. He focuses on meditation training and core, practical Buddhist principles in his teachings. He is the author of the book A Practical Guide to Mindful Living and leads several retreats across the UK every year, as well as teaching online and in person across South Wales. David's engaging style is clear, practical, and relatable, hoping to make ancient practices applicable to modern life. He envisions and works towards the establishment of the Samadhi Eco Retreat Centre as a community for spiritual development.

Lunch
Lam Rim is still in the process of being able to provide food at the centre. Until then, we kindly request that you bring your own lunch for the course. David has requested that we eat a plant-based lunch, or at least vegetarian if this is not possible for you. This is an expression of non-harm and compassion - taking into account the welfare of our planet and fellow inhabitants.
Donations

Buddhist teachings are traditionally given freely, however the Centre does rely entirely on voluntary support. Donations for these teachings will be gratefully received and be used to continue the necessary maintenance work and upgrades to the Centre so that it can continue to re-open and welcome visitors. Please explore suggested donations as listed below.
Important Note: Our system uses PayPal to take donations. If you do not have a PayPal Account you can pay as a Guest. Please click the link ‘Try Another Way’ , then follow instructions for ‘Pay by Debit or Credit Card’.
